Term 3

Welcome to Term 3, I hope you have all had a good break and ready for another busy term. This is a little run down of the term and what you will need to know for week 1.

Literacy - For the first half of the term we are doing a novel study, focusing on summarising, understanding what we are reading and discussing our novels with others. For writing we are finishing persuasive writing then moving into descriptive writing and then poetry.

Inquiry - We are finishing our paragraphs and presentations in week 1 and will be presenting our science inquiries in the hall on Friday from 11-11:45. Then we will be moving into passion projects, so please have a discussion with your child about what they might do to get them thinking.

Maths - We are finishing off multiplication and division in week 1, then moving into fractions, decimals, percentages and ratios. To end the term we will be doing geometry.

R.E - We will start with the God strand, then the Church strand. We are on Gospel in week 8.

P.E - We are finishing off large ball skills, then moving into gymnastics. Our P.E days will change depending on what is on for the week. This week they are Tuesday and Friday. We are also doing cross country training as it is in week 3. We are training Tuesday, Thursday and Friday this week.

Singing cup is this term so cultural leaders and house captains will be very busy with this. Technology is week 6, 7, 8 and 9 this term.

Intermediate Rewards will be every few weeks with the first one on Friday week 2. Some will be in school and some out of school, any suggestions are welcome.

There will be more information about camp coming soon, especially about fundraising and parent helpers.

Collaborative learning

More collaborative learning was happening this week. We worked with a peer for our narrative writing, helping each other with our goal and to improve our writing. We also worked in a small group with the year 7's for inquiry, sharing where we were up to in the science inquiry, helping each other and giving each other ideas. Great to see the year 8's working very well with others this week.

R.E Sharing with year 4

We researched different families around the world and looked at how they lived. We also thought about how the Holy Spirit was working through them. We then shared this with the year 4's.
